Wonderware SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and MES (manufacturing execution system) software VAR Pantek has restructured, cemented its relationship with Wonderware and renamed itself.
The Stockport company, which has represented Wonderware for more than 15 years has signed a new distribution deal that gives it the ‘Wonderware UK’ and ‘Wonderware Ireland’ brands, under which its software division, softwarePT, will now trade.
Meanwhile, the rest of the company will trade as hardwarePT and emsPT – the former supplying branded products and integrated solutions built around industrial grade hardware, while the latter covers enterprise management systems (ems) services and consultancy, particularly around MES and business intelligence system implementations.
Also, to complete the new shiny image, the company is also moving to new, custom designed offices at Cheadle Royal, Cheshire on Monday.
John Bailey, managing director of SolutionsPT, says: “The restructuring and the re-branding of Pantek allows the company to provide close-coupled business delivery with its key suppliers, especially Wonderware.”
And he adds: “The uptake of ArchestrA technology and its measurable deployment cost savings is partially the rationale of this restructure. SolutionsPT, in combination with activities under the Wonderware UK and Wonderware Ireland brands, will be able to more completely respond to the expectations of globalised companies.”
Bailey also expects the increased closeness to Wonderware itself, as well as the separation of its hardware and services businesses, to result in advantages for its system integrator partners, which, he says, will be able to take on bigger projects with wider geographic and technology scope.
“There are significant new issues in our market, such as more regulation, leaner manufacturing and high expectations of perfect quality and up-time, cost consciousness and whole business integration. SolutionsPT is better positioned with the resources and the skills to be a natural partner to manufacturers in achieving these goals.”
Beyond that, he believes the new structure plays to the strengths of newer technologies targeted at industrial users. “The number of initiatives made during 2006 has been astounding, with Industrial Ethernet, High Availability Computing, Wireless Technology and Wonderware’s System Platform among many others.
“The single entity of SolutionsPT will mean that the company can be seen as having the most comprehensive and effective scope of delivery in manufacturing information and control… [And] the primary groupings within SolutionsPT will reinforce our capability to deliver benefits and advantages in all areas of our portfolio, whether software, hardware or enterprise manufacturing solutions.”
