Robert Wiseman Dairies reports savings

Food and beverage sector manufacturer Robert Wiseman Dairies said today (6 July) that it was continuing to make cost savings across the business. Having already made environmental savings, it was also looking for opportunities for further efficiencies.

Company chairman Robert Wiseman said the benefits of recent investments in refrigeration and heat recovery equipment at the company's Manchester dairy had reduced in gas usage by 50% and saved a 200,000 litres of water a week. "We will continue to look for further opportunities to reduce costs either through capital investment or by improving our processes," he went on. Wiseman said the trading during the first quarter of its year had been as expected and sales will improve further after an increase in business with the Co-op begins in August. However, the group continued to be hit by higher diesel costs and the price of resin used to produce its plastic bottles.
