Electronic invoicing and new levels of business visibility and reporting are “saving a fortune” at medical equipment manufacturer S Murray & Co, following implementation of an ERP system from Access Supply Chain.
Systems manager Mark Elton says the company is also now using electronic jobsheets and has automated traceability for all manufactured items using the system – leading to significant efficiencies and substantial financial savings.
The organisation supplies laboratory glassware, surgical instruments and plastic bottles and containers to schools, universities, laboratories and high street chemists. It employs 100 people at sites in Old Woking and Sheffield.
The implementation, which was prompted by an ailing bespoke system and customer demand for efficiencies, was completed inside three months.
Elton says the quality and quantity of data has provided visibility of the business previously unattainable, while improved reporting via Crystal Reports means the company no longer needs bespoke reports.
Beyond that, he reports that processes are now more robust and smart, with, for example, job cards previously completed manually for each surgical instrument, now compiled at the click of a button.
Says Elton: “Access Supply Chain is multi-faceted; as we evolve, we will employ more of its features. At the outset we just wanted the functionality to duplicate our old system. Now we can pick and choose other elements as we develop the business.”
