Saint-Gobain boss McLenaghan moves on

Saint-Gobain Glass UK boss and world class manufacturing exponent Alan McLenaghan (pictured) is to leave his Eggborough, North Yorkshire-based post to take up a new job in the United States.

The Scot, well-known as a champion of Britain's manufacturing revival and regarded as one of the sectors most influential executives, took the French-owned group's UK glass plant to recognition – among many other accolades – as Britain's best factory in 2005 and Britain's best process plant in 2008. From January next year McLenaghan will join Saint-Gobain Containers Inc (SGCI) – headquartered in Muncie, Indiana, USA – as senior vice president technology. In his previous roles, he has been responsible for the creation, development and implementation of world class manufacturing across 31 sites, successfully developing safety programs, lean, six sigma and '5S' initiatives across the business.
