Samsung SDSE reckons it has saved 20% on EDI VAN costs while improving data transmission within its supply chain by using a managed Service based on Inovisworks.
The IT services giant implemented a VAN (value added netowrk) service from Inovis, which, it says, is helping to manage its partner environment and simplify communications for one of its biggest customers, mobile phones, televisions, DVD players and microwave ovens manufacturer Samsung Electronics.
The trick, according to Samsung SDSE EDI manager Mike Bennett, is in Inovis’ pricing, which charges for each partner added to the network, rather than per message or volume of data transferred.
Also, Samsung SDSE is now able to cope with managing more complex data – for example, Samsung Electronics can now trade detailed information, such as sell-out and sales forecasting data with its partners without worrying about increased EDI costs.
“The combination of functionality that Inovisworks provides along with its innovative pricing structure makes the solution unbeatable in the market,” says Bennett.
“We no longer have to invest unnecessary man-hours resolving complex budgeting issues, which were frequent due to the growth of our partner network as well as our customers’ partner networks,” he adds.
“Additionally, we’re confident that Inovis will work with us round-the-clock to ensure that orders from our suppliers are processed as soon as they are received, allowing us to further maximize communications and productivity.”
