Spanish professional lighting manufacturer Indal Group says it has significantly improved management and planning of production resources throughout its supply chain since going live with Infor’s SCM Scheduler.
José Vicente Atienza, logistics director of Indalux Valladolid (part of the Indal Group), says the company has reduced supply chain bottlenecks and is now managing daily production at a detailed level. Specifically, he also says that the system is helping Indal to meet ever shorter customer delivery dates by calculating parameters, such as manufacturing requirements, available resources, timeframes and quantities.
“Infor SCM Scheduler is a strategic solution for us, to the extent that we just can’t imagine how we would manage every-day manufacturing processes without it,” says Atienza. “We are very pleased with the way it works and the way it has been easily adapted to our modus operandi.”
Interestingly, the supply chain scheduler expands the functionality of the Indal Group’s existing Baan ERP (also long since an Infor product) software, delivering total control over production capacity and finite capacity scheduling.
In fact, Indal has replaced Baan’s short-term production order planning functionality with this new system, which allows production managers to make better use of their assets, also meeting supply chain requirements in real time – taking account of supply schedules and order dates.
Effectively, the solution actively seeks goals around adhering to estimated delivery times, maximising the use of productive assets, minimising dead time and lowering manufacturing costs for production lines.
It is also fully integrated with the ERP system, enabling administrators to manage all production tasks and calculate variables for estimating quantities, resources, tools, configuration times and product types needed for manufacturing planning.
