Simulation technology holds the key to environmentally friendly manufacturing, according to 90% of respondents to a survey by Lanner Group, the business process analysis company.
However, only 9% will be prioritising the reduction of their carbon footprint this year – 77% of manufacturers said they have other priorities to address first and 15% believed the process is too costly.
A full 72% of manufacturers state that cost reduction and efficiency creation are their greatest challenges this year, while 18% cite compliance as their main priority.
“Clearly, manufacturers are under immense pressure to reduce costs and deliver efficiencies – it’s hardly surprising that environmental initiatives take a back seat,” observes Lanner CEO David Jones.
“Using simulation technology to improve business processes is as close to guaranteeing an outcome as is possible. It can provide visibility, clarity and eliminate unforeseen costs, which are common in any new project. Effective use of simulation technology can help to map processes so that environmental initiatives can be aligned with cost savings.”
