Network software that monitors and visualises the topology, availability and performance of industrial Ethernet and Profinet networks has been launched by Siemens.
Sinema (Simatic Network Manager) Server software automatically recognises changes in the network, and the company claims it will help users to identify and clear malfunctions faster.
It also suggests that, as a result, downtime and maintenance costs in factories and process plants will be reduced, while production availability will clearly increase.
Incidentally, Sinema Server also documents the utilisation and availability of a network over any period – so providing useful analytics to guide troubleshooting and investment.
The software is to be available through the sales outlets of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and through Scalance distributors.
Licensing options are based on the number of supported devices, ranging from 50 to 250.
