Solar power manufacturer Torresol Energy says it has selected IFS Applications to manage the entire lifecycle of its engineering projects and to maintain its solar thermal energy plants.
At present, Torresol Energy is developing two projects in Spain – Cadiz and Seville – with cylindrical-parabolic trough collectors technology. With the investment for these approaching €1 billion, the firm is adding 67MW and 460GWh/year capacity.
According to Manuel Fernández, CFO of Torresol Energy, given the magnitude of its planned investments, the company needed an ERP solution that would support project and asset management – and one that could be used at its plants world-wide.
"We have chosen IFS Applications, because it supports our project-orientated business model," says Fernández.
"IFS' customer base and experience in the utility sector is impressive, with successful implementations in several nuclear plants and the largest hydropower project in the world [Three Gorges in China]," he adds.
Fernández also cites IFS' component-based solution architecture as a key selection criterion, because of its ability to adapt and grow.
The implementation is to be carried out in two major phases over a nine month period, taking in IFS Financials, Human Resources, Project Management, Document Management, Business Performance, Business Analytics, Maintenance, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
