Business software conglomerate Solarsoft Business Systems has acquired US-based Informance International, which specialises in so-called enterprise manufacturing intelligence (EMI) systems.
John Oskin, founder and executive vice president at Informance, explains that its software gives managers "a clear view of performance" across their manufacturing operations – aggregated up from real-time shop floor data capture and tracking metrics such as OEE (overall equipment effectiveness), yield and waste for managers.
Its strength to date has been in the food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, with clients ranging from Unilever to Cargill, ConAgra and L'Oreal.
Commenting on the deal, Solarsoft CEO Shawn McMorran says: "Informance is an excellent fit with Solarsoft's strategy of bringing together specialist applications that empower business owners and managers in well-defined vertical markets. This acquisition expands our capabilities in manufacturing systems and deepens our expertise in important and growing markets."
