Sony UK Technology Centre is sponsoring the Unsung Hero Award, part of Works Management's Manufacturing Champions awards to be held at the Midland Hotel, Manchester on December 4.
Steve Dalton OBE (pictured), managing director of Sony UK Technology Centre, said: "We are delighted to be sponsoring the Manufacturing Champions awards and in particular, the Unsung Hero Award.
"At Sony UK Technology Centre, our people are a huge contributor to our success. We know that having a dedicated team who are willing to contribute to the growth of the company, is a key element to any manufacturing organisation's success.
"The Unsung Hero Award recognises this and celebrates an employee's achievements that have gone above and beyond what is expected of them to aid in the site's success."
He added: "As an organisation, we invest in our employees and internally, we always look to recognise the fantastic achievements made by all of our employees to improve performance, efficiency and to develop innovative solutions to help our business grow. As such, sponsoring the Manufacturing Champions awards is a natural progression and fits with our company ethos of innovation and continuous improvement."
Lead sponsor for Manufacturing Champions is The Manufacturing Institute, Arco is sponsoring the Health & Safety Award and Atlas Copco is sponsor of the Rising Star category.
Manufacturing Champions is the first awards to exclusively celebrate the all-important people who spur UK manufacturing success. As well as celebrating outstanding factory performers, we also hope to promote to a national audience the dynamic and exciting careers on offer in the sector.
Max Gosney, group editor at Works Management, said: "It's high time for the hardworking people who keep our production lines purring to take a curtain call. If you are truly proud of your people then please take advantage of this entry deadline extension and nominate them. Together we can show the public that a career in manufacturing is something worth aspiring to."
