Sony said the accolade signalled a “real opportunity” to showcase the creativity of UK manufacturing employees.
Gerald Kelly, director of Professional Services at Sony’s Pencoed manufacturing plant, said: “We are delighted to sponsor the Employee Led Innovation Award, Innovation is key to everything we do at our Sony UK Technology Centre and we are proud of our 100% innovation participation rate across our site.
Kelly added: “Therefore we should and must support the Employee-led Innovation category and the power of ‘doing something better today’.”
Works Management launched the Manufacturing Champions Awards in 2014 to celebrate the people whose pride and professionalism help British factories compete with the best in the world.
Manufacturing Champions also looks to dispel the myth that a career in manufacturing is dirty and dead end.
Kelly said: “We have been a supporter of the Manufacturing Champions Awards Scheme for some time. It presents a real opportunity to realise and share the incredible achievements, the talent and capability that UK manufacturing has to offer.”
Manufacturing Champions opens for entry in mid-June. Look out for entry details in Works Management’s June issue and the Manufacturing Champions website
