IT professionals working at SMEs can now manage and automate printer ink and toner purchasing directly within the Spiceworks online social network.
Scott Abel, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks, explains that the new feature makes it easier for the 1.6 million IT professionals using Spiceworks to keep their printers up and running.
He estimates that these users are responsible for 10.9 million printers in more than 1 million businesses worldwide, so also providing ink and toner suppliers with e-commerce access to more than $3 billion in refills every year.
With the new Spiceworks feature, he says IT managers can track ink and toner usage levels on networked printers, get alerts when levels run low, and purchase refills – all from within the Spiceworks network.
"Today, we're taking a big step forward in helping businesses automate the last link in the IT management lifecycle – the buying process," boasts Abel.
"By facilitating connections between IT pros and technology vendors, we're creating a community where marketers and decision makers can interact and help each other do their jobs," he continues.
"Whether it's ink, computer warranties or cloud services, our goal is to make Spiceworks the place for everything IT for technology buyers and sellers."
Not only will IT managers get automated 'click-to-buy' facilities, allowing them to find the right ink and toner refills for all printers on their networks, but they will also see useful community product ratings & reviews.
