Staff made redundant at furniture making company

East Midlands-based furniture maker ANK Manufacturing have made all staff members redundant after the appointment of liquidators, Insider Media reported.

A male worker of Hispanic descent, wearing safety goggles, assembles a sofa on a workbench, with machinery in the background and bolts, screws, and tools scattered around.

The mass redundancies has seen 26 jobs losses.

Carolynn Best and Thomas Harris of Begbies Traynor were appointed as liquidators to ANK Manufacturing Ltd on 29 October 2024.

Carolynn Best, partner at Begbies Traynor in the East Midlands, said: “The past 12 months have been very challenging for the company, who have faced rising overheads in multiple areas," Ms Best said.

"Despite efforts to increase turnover with a focused business development programme, and attempts to diversify, the situation became untenable, and the business ceased trading.”

ANK produced and sold custom made sofas. The business struggled this year when attempts failed to boost trade amid rising costs.
