UK Syspro manufacturing ERP specialist K3 Business Technology Group says it slashed development time for Syspro 6.1's new Workflow Solution by a staggering 80%, with the help of Microsoft.
K3 used Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and the Microsoft .Net Framework 4 to speed up development of custom workflows. The company also used new graphical design tools to develop a workflow solution based on Windows Workflow Foundation and Windows Communication Foundation.
The result, according to managing director Howard Joseph, was less code writing and better team collaboration. Hence, he says, Syspro delivered its new software in six months instead of three years.
"The new solution, called Syspro Workflow Services, is part of the major new release of Syspro 6.1. The solution includes an integrated workflow designer," explains Joseph.
"Syspro customers will use the designer to create custom workflow activities that execute with the ERP software or external applications. Customers will also be able to monitor workflows and generate reports to see how long it takes to complete each activity."
