Precision engineering firm Bowyer Engineering says it expects to halve the time it spends on accounting following implementation of K3 Syspro ERP software.
The system is replacing two bespoke systems currently managing production control and accounting, and managing director James Bowyer says the firm expects easy access to real-time information and improved visibility of data.
"Our existing production control system was built from scratch for us. However, it is DOS-based and supporting it is becoming difficult," he explains.
"Rather than keep paying to upgrade the old system we wanted to spend the money on a new system that was customisable and could support future changes in the business," he says.
Passing accounts information between the production control system and the accounting software was also causing the business to spend too much time on administration. Further, Bowyer says that reporting was limited, with no way to conduct automated time keeping.
K3 prescribed a modular but integrated, customisable system that is almost a like-for-like system replacement to minimise disruption during the installation process.
The new system covers quotations, order intake, manufacturing control, and reporting – all modules that the previous system was lacking.
"We are confident that K3 Syspro will work with us to meet our go-live aim so that we can begin using Syspro early next year," comments Bowyer.
