Somerset-based sub-contract manufacturing specialist Metaltech Precision expects to save 25% on operational costs, improve delivery and gain a clear picture of inventories when it goes live with a Syspro ERP system from K3.
The company, which serves the pump, petrochemical, rail automotive, valve and tobacco industries, says the system will replace spreadsheet-based manual systems and improve visibility, eradicate duplicated data and effort, and boost efficiency.
“I expect Syspro to double our efficiencies,” says Paul Smith, project manager, Metaltech. “The new system will … integrate all of our information into a unified resource, which will give us incredible visibility across the entire business. We will also be able to increase our available time on value-added activity and drive out unnecessary costs, including those associated with our current inventory,” he adds.
The new system is being implemented in two phases to support Metaltech’s quality standards improvement programme. Phase one is to include Syspro manufacturing and accounting modules, followed by time and attendance, touch screen shopfloor data capture and advanced planning and scheduling in phase two. The entire system is due to go live at the end of the third quarter 2009.
We are growing rapidly and have embarked on a quality standard programme as a gold level approved supplier to one of our major customers,” explains Smith. “Syspro will help us achieve this, as well as helping us to achieve across the board on-time delivery to all our clients.”
