Larger manufacturers wanting to disseminate disparate information about projects, products etc held in different systems can do so using software jointly developed by infrastructure access software developer Autonomy and PLM (product lifecycle management) software firm Agile.
The pair say it will help organisations’ engineering, marketing, purchasing, finance and other departments to retrieve information from all sorts of data – structured and unstructured.
They also say it is currently in production at one of the world’s largest network infrastructure providers and will also soon be in production at one of the planet’s largest digital wireless communications service providers.
Autonomy’s technology is said to improve speed and accuracy of information discovery, enabling different users to gain insight into issues ranging from design to project or product completion.
“By embedding Autonomy’s capabilities into Agile’s PLM offerings, users can now easily locate and retrieve structured and unstructured product content from Agile and other enterprise systems,” says Stouffer Egan, CEO of Autonomy. “The result is increased utilisation of the Agile system by a broader set of users, improved management of engineering changes and improved parts/design reuse. This leads to a shorter time to market.”
“We see enormous value in providing users with information analysis and retrieval across multiple repositories from the Agile system. Autonomy’s ability to organise content and allow users to easily traverse through complex data relationships, ensures users quickly and accurately narrow down vast volumes of information to the critical few pieces they need to do their jobs,” says Chris Wong, Agile executive vice president.
The Autonomy/Agile solution was developed by software developer vdR, and is now supported, off-the-shelf by Autonomy.
