The Beeston, Leeds-based manufacturer Power and Distribution Transformers (PDT) today (22 April) announced it has secured bank funding of £3.6 million to more than double the supply of its transformers overseas.
PDT – a family operation established in 1994 and now in the second generation of management – provides a range of new and manufactured transformers for both indoor and outdoor use for UK and international distribution.
Employing over 30 staff, the company offers fire resistant cast resin transformers and also oil immersed power transformers. It currently exports to destinations including Nigeria, Ghana and Iraq. The company said the new funding, from Barclays, would allow it to expand on these locations.
Managing director Simon Wilson said: "PDT has seen substantial growth over the last two years and this funding will allow us to further increase our overseas business. Power generation and distribution systems are an essential part of life for development in many countries and our products provide maximum power generation whilst reducing environmental impact."
PDT has been working in conjunction with the Nigerian Government to electrify many of the rural areas. There are high levels of adult illiteracy in the country and electrification will be used to allow greater access to education.
Barclays Corporate relationship director Phil Dibbs said: "It's been great to see Simon and his team grow their business over the last couple of years and we've worked hard to create a complex international trade structure that will allow them to secure further overseas contracts. We look forward to continue working with the management team to provide solutions that help to drive the strategic goals of the business"
