Manufacturers looking to export to China are being offered the opportunity to enter the market there by using a trade service previously only open to members.
The Processing and Packaging Machinery Association (PPMA), a non profit making group representing UK manufacturing, is offering its 'Dragon Service' to all manufacturers looking to export to China, enabling them to 'dip a toe in the water' in China with little risk and at minimal cost.
PPMA will employ on its own payroll a member of staff to work for any UK manufacturer interested in the China market and will handle all Chinese HR and employment issues. The employee would be re-charged at cost and a small share of the Chinese office (pictured) overhead. The model also enables the exporter to enter or exit the Chinese market with only one month's notice and at low cost.
Chris Buxton, CEO of the PPMA Group, said the service had proved popular and effective for its members who might have otherwise been put off by large market entry costs such as securing office premises. "We would like to hear from any UK manufacturers wishing to explore these markets," he added.
Charles Lee, managing director of Matcon, a UK manufacturer in the engineering sector, said "We entered this market via the PPMA Dragon Service and we now have almost £4 million worth of contracts from China. The PPMA service has provided Matcon with an extremely cost effective way of entering the Chinese market and with very little risk, we now have five people working out of China and it has proved to be an excellent strategy for Matcon."
The PPMA would like to hear from any manufacturer in the UK that wishes to explore this option. The Dragon service also offers companies chaperoned assistance to China – further details via the link below, or email grant.collier@ppma.co.uk.
