Ultra high vacuum components firm VG Scienta has selected Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft implementation partner Columbus IT for its new ERP system.
VG Scienta IT manager Chris Jackson explains that the manufacturer used consultancy Marlborough Management Group to help draw up a list of candidates, using its SpecIT toolset – resulting in shortlist of three.
Microsoft Dynamics AX was then chosen, he says, partly because it has the familiar look and feel, but also because it is "powerful enough to support our current and future business requirements".
Jackson expects the first phase of its implementation to improve asects such as planning, reporting and operational efficiency. Future phases, he says, will lead to an end-to-end business solution.
"Our primary aim was to find a supplier that we could build a strong relationship with," comments Jackson.
"The team from Columbus IT gave us more confidence in their ability to implement, as they came with huge technical ability and product understanding, as well as practical knowledge of the manufacturing industry."
