WaverleyTBS says it expects to improve customer service by optimising daily deliveries and fleet usage when it goes live with a computerised delivery planning and routing solution.
The drinks supplier has bought Paragon Software Systems' Multi Depot software, and logistics development manager Keith Marley believes it will also improve flexibility and WaverleyTBS' ability to adhere to delivery time windows.
"Our customers need reliable, consistent service at all times and the Paragon Multi Depot software will help us meet their expectations," he says, adding that the requirement is complicated by the sheer range of customer delivery profiles.
He explains that the firm supplies a wide range of products – cask beers, beers of the world, spirits, a huge selection of wines and soft drinks. It also makes around 2,000 deliveries per day over 130 routes, with five planning regions and a dedicated planner for each.
"We capture orders up to 2pm each day for next day delivery and we use the software to calculate the best way to make each delivery – route, vehicle and load. It will help us to make best use of our fleet, enabling us to reduce the number of vehicles we use. In addition, we want to reduce the number of routes, our fuel consumption and road miles, which will also lower our emission levels," comments Marley.
