WM calls Energy Summit to tackle supply concerns

Industry experts will debate how the government can deliver more manufacturing friendly energy policy at a special Energy Summit 2011 in London this November.

Energy minister Charles Hendry will headline the WM event and offer the government's stance on energy. Whitehall has come under fire for lacking a long term energy strategy and using low carbon measures as a stealth tax on industry. Energy experts have warned of widespread power shortages from 2015 as a third of UK coal-fired power stations close. The event will feature a panel debate on these and other energy challenges with representatives from the National Grid and Department for Energy and Climate Change. Breakout business sessions will also offer advice for site managers on auditing energy use, the use of smart meters and overcoming energy red tape.
