A new Cat electric forklift truck has been launched which is designed to operate indoors or outside in harsh environments.
Available from Cat's UK distributor Impact Handling, the three- and four-wheeled trucks have been designed, says the supplier, with durability and efficiency in mind.
Longer service intervals of 1,000 hours, reduced energy consumption, added safety features and quieter operation are all cited features, and the trucks have lift capacities ranging from 1.3 to 2 tonnes.
In addition, the range addresses a traditional problem for electric lift trucks – namely their ability to resist the impact of water and dirt. The new trucks come with IPx4 splash protection, meaning the vehicles can be washed down thoroughly, making them suitable for food and chemical manufacturers.
Dust protection is reinforced with IP54 sealed traction and hydraulic pump motors, while the wet disc brakes resist both water and dust. For particularly harsh operating conditions, such as for the chemical sector, the frame and mast can be galvanised, adding to product longevity and productivity.
The range incorporates the PDS+ system, which cuts power to the drive motors and hydraulics when the driver moves off the seat. There's also an automatically applied parking brake and 'ramp hold' feature.
