Sage today (26 May 2011) launched Sage ERP X3 v6.2, with a claimed 320 enhancements, including key updates to the SAFE X3 platform and financials, manufacturing and distribution modules.

Emmanuel Obadia, SVP of Sage ERP X3, explains that other significant improvements include Sage Enterprise Webtop, which is now available as a connected service, Sage Search, now an integral part of SAFE X3, and EDM (electronic document management) provided as an extension. And he says that Standard Edition, a version of Sage ERP X3 designed for independent companies or subsidiaries, is also now available on v6.2 in North America and Europe, while and Sage's CRM solution, Sage SalesLogix, has been integrated using SDATA, Sage's standard protocol. "We've also greatly enhanced v6.2 with hundreds of module improvements that will benefit our customers and further deliver on ERP modernisation – helping mid-market businesses to implement real systems of innovation without activity disruption," comments Obadia. Sage Enterprise Webtop is interesting. A component of Sage's SAFE X3 platform, it allows users to connect to Sage ERP X3 through personalised dashboards and widgets, using the Netvibes publishing platform. Effectivley, it enables them to participate in business processes via secure access into Sage ERP X3 data and workflows from any mobile device. It also allows users access to public, business or personal information (such as RSS feeds, social media and videos) via a personalised dashboard. That means the ERP system is effectively opens and decentralised, bringing ERP X3 data, processes and functionality not only to enterprise users, but also to business partners, suppliers and customers, seeking collaboration.
