Test and measurement equipment manufacturer Aeroflex says it expects to increase manufacturing efficiency at its Stevenage plant when it goes live with an ERP upgrade to QAD Enterprise Applications 2011.
Theo Waarbenburg, implementation project manager for Aeroflex, says that since first deploying QAD ERP in 1998, Aeroflex has consolidated three manufacturing operations into one.
Hence the decision to upgrade and standardise on the latest release, which includes plans to harness its built-in best practice business processes, and specificallyto reduce its reliance on non-integrated, bolt-on applications.
"We're looking to significantly improve our sales and operations planning [S&OP] processes and redefine the way we do business," states Waarbenburg. "This upgrade will allow us to create a more efficient system."
"One of the biggest costs to our business is in the manufactured element of our product," adds Derek Smith, finance director for Aeroflex. "QAD 2011 Enterprise Edition will help us build a better forecast and enhance visibility into our supply chain – so lowering our manufacturing costs and reducing our inventory."
Waarbenburg explains that, as part of its improvement efforts, Aeroflex is also using QAD Configurator to standardise and simplify its configure-to-order processes. The system, he says, will support processes from quoting and order entry through to production planning and fulfilment and after-sales service and support.
