$6bn industrial brand management company Barloworld has upgraded its disparate global systems to Infor PM Business Process Applications (BPA), a centralised suite of applications for budgeting, planning, forecasting, financial consolidation, strategy management, and reporting and analysis.
The implementation started on Microsoft SQL Server, at a centralised level, with a subsequent phased, division-by-division roll-out, with the legacy systems running in parallel to provide redundant safety back-up.
Barloworld says the project completed in nine months, and that uptake among divisional offices was rapid, based on a single on-the-job training session for preparation of month-end reports.
It also says it saw an almost immediate improvement in capability. Infor PM BPA enables a single, consolidated arena for all financial planning and reporting activity enabling the company to develop consistent reports and present accurate, transparent information to senior decision makers.
Financial reports can now be viewed in any currency loaded on to the system, and the ease of use has enabled Barloworld to drill down into various financial reports in different currencies.
From an IT perspective, updates can now be handled easily, since Infor PM BPA is a web-based product held on the server – meaning that all updates can now be handled centrally. The flexibility of a web-based product has also enabled improved commentary on financial reporting that enables office managers to query and resolve their financial reports in real time, knowing that they are working with the same data and reports.
