BW Offshore standardises on IFS Applications for project engineering

BW Offshore, the oil and gas FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) contractor, has selected IFS to streamline the group's business systems.

BW acquired existing IFS-user Advanced Production and Loading (APL) in 2007, and says it made sense to standardise on IFS Applications. The company is to implement IFS' project-based applications to support project management, material management, HR, financials and after-sales. Its objective, it says, is to have an integrated solution, covering all aspects of its business and improving project performance. And the secret of that, according to BW senior vice president of corporate IT Fritz Ekløff, is improving control over BW Offshore's five key success factors for project-based companies: risk, cost, cash, time and resources. Says Ekløff: "We chose to standardize on IFS Applications based on IFS' focus and knowledge on project-based industries, the rich project functionality of IFS Applications and its global consulting reach. We share the view on how to apply a standard business application solution in a project environment." Add-on IFS implementations have started in Brazil, and next up will be its Oslo office, with a goal of having the whole group consolidated on IFS Applications during Q2 2010.
