Charente ships in ERP to chart course on demand-driven manufacturing

Nautical charts and navigational equipment manufacturer Charente has gone live with Infor ERP SL (formerly SyteLine) to streamline production and distribution, while improving customer service.

Following a 10-month implementation, Charente has deployed the system across two sites, and says it is getting improved management information throughout production operations, procurement and planning, and is seeing inventory levels reducing as it moves to demand-driven manufacturing. Charente COO Chris Taylor says the system is improving accuracy across its inventory and the supply chain, while enabling comprehensive factory planning, and integrating the administration behind purchasing, sales, production and invoicing “These changes will improve customer service and ensure our growth remains controlled – creating automated workflows that will save time and money to help fund this growth. “Infor ERP SL was chosen because of the software’s close fit with our requirements and the fact that the team at Infor had clearly taken a great deal of time to research and understand the idiosyncrasies and complexities of our business,” explains Taylor. “For example, a typical order will have over 4,000 line items. Different components of these are often delivered at different dates mixed in with different orders. Only Infor ERP SL offered the functionality to handle this as we wanted. Specifically, Infor ERP SL enables us to accept entire orders then retrospectively change the details … instead of having to reject entire orders and re-enter individual line items.
