Gas-to-liquids specialist CompactGTL says it expects to halve its accounting time by consolidating data and reporting on a new Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system.
The contract, with Microsoft VAR Ardent Solutions, is worth £50,000, and will allow CompactGTL – which was formed from the merger of GTL Microsystems and the Process technology division of Accentus (formerly a subsidiary of AEA Technology) – to store all accountancy data in one central repository.
Paul James, financial controller at the company, says: “We chose Ardent Solutions because they offered us exactly what we were looking for. We’ll be able to interrogate our own data and run individual departmental reports – the system offers a very end-user friendly tool for project analysis.
“We’re certainly looking forward to the time savings. Currently, there is a lot of data duplication where we are using multiple spread sheets. At the moment, the monthly accounts tend to take about two weeks.
“With the new system, we predict that we’ll be able to at least halve the time it takes to one working week or less. In only the first month of implementation we have already seen a time saving of two days in month end processing routines.”
