Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, the largest in the Netherlands, says it has selected IFS ERP solution to improve engineering project control and increase efficiency.
Bert-Jan ter Riet, director production & logistics at Damen, adds that the organisation also expects to reduce delivery times and optimise information flows.
"The integrated functionality of IFS Applications and the worldwide local service and support network of IFS were the deciding factors for us when we chose the solution," says ter Riet.
"Our project Dawn will result in clear, common processes throughout the organisation. The implementation of IFS Applications will be of crucial importance to make this project a success," he adds.
The shipyard builds and maintains a wide range of vessels, from tugboats to container ships. The system is based on its IFS Applications 7.5 and includes the new, intuitive IFS Enterprise Explorer user interface.
Ter Riet believes the functionality will allows Damen to optimise its project and contracting management and thus reduce risks. Integration with engineering, purchasing, production and service/installation will also provides Damen with full visibility of project progress and costs.
The initial phase of the project is worth € 1.1 million for IFS, including licenses and services.
