Application acceleration software developer Expand Networks says it is addressing SAP working over WANs (wide area networks) for performance improvements and cost reductions.
The company says it’s about enabling global enterprises to reliably deliver SAP to remote workers while also executing on strategic server and storage consolidation initiatives.
It makes the point that in the high latency, low bandwidth environment of the WAN, SAP performance can be severely affected, resulting in slow response times and reduced remote user productivity.
By optimising the performance of SAP over the WAN and reducing deployment costs, Expand Networks claims that its Compass platform significantly improves that situation.
It also says that it can accelerate SAP to remote users irrespective of SAP architecture. Compression features increase network capacity by 400%, it claims, removing congestion – while acceleration rates of at least 500% address protocol limitations, reducing chattiness and lessening latency.
In addition, QoS (quality of service) services prioritise SAP over non-business and other web traffic to eradicate congestion for the mission critical application.
