Hundreds of links and downloads to programs ranging from full featured CAD/CAM and CAE suites to part libraries are being offered free by TenLinks on its new website FreeCAD.com. It’s a resource for engineers and designers, covering a mass of freeware. “We’ve found there to be a vast amount of riches on the Internet which is just being given away,” says Roopinder Tara, president and CEO. “We maintained a directory of free products on TenLinks.com, which turned out to be one of the most popular directories on the entire site. So we decided to expand on the ‘free’ concept and create an entire website dedicated to free programs.” To qualify for a listing, programs must be available to the public free and useable for at least 180 days. For example, Cadopia, a distributor and developer of IntelliCAD, has created a version of IntelliCAD with a 180-day free use period for FreeCAD.com. Similarly, IMSI, creator of TurboCAD, is represented. “We’re delighted to have FreeCAD.com host TurboCAD LE,” says Bob Mayer, sales and marketing manager. “With the momentum TenLinks has in the CAD, CAM and CAE industry, the number of people who can benefit from TurboCAD can only increase.”
