CAD/CAM/CAE software developers Vero Software and Planit Holdings are to merge – bringing their respective tooling and production engineering, solutions under one roof.
Planit's brands include Edgecam, Alphacam, Cabinet Vision, CabnetWare, Javelin and Radan. Meanwhile, Vero focuses on plastic injection moulds, sheet metal stamping dies, multi-axis milling, laser cutting and wire EDM, under the VISI, PEPS, Machining Strategist and SMIRT names.
Richard Smith, CEO of Vero Software, believes the new combination creates the world's leading CAM specialist, and third largest CAD/CAM software vendor behind Dassault Systèmes and Siemens PLM.
"With greater critical mass we will be able to continue to provide excellent service and support to both existing and new customers," comments Smith. And he adds: "We fully recognise the importance of product branding, and it is important to emphasise that we will continue to invest in all of the products."
The merger has been funded by Battery Ventures (Boston, USA), which invests in technology-driven companies.
