G&J Greenall has switched to fully managed EDI with Wesupply, following a major review of its entire electronic trading network.
The gin and vodka distiller and bottler says it was seeking to increase information visibility, security and accuracy while also reducing costs.
Pete Revill, IS manager at G&J Greenall, says that adopting OneTime, Wesupply's EDI service, has achieved its objectives and improved the availability and traceability of its electronic transactions, successfully reducing both the cost of EDI and the resources required to manage it.
"Partnering with Wesupply and using the OneTime fully managed EDI service has been a highly beneficial move for us," comments Revill.
"Not only is the service more effective than our previous in-house solution, [but] it comes at a significantly more controllable cost," he continues.
"We now have complete visibility across all our EDI transmissions, ensuring our invoices don't get lost and that we get paid on time."
G&J previously ran with an on-premise EDI solution, but Revill says it couldn't keep up with the company's pace of change. He also says it was costly to run.
Most important, short lead times on customer orders meant that any down time would lead to missed or delayed shipments and serious repercussions for the business.
Also, a general lack of supply chain visibility and backing up of data made it difficult to keep track of important trading documents.
OneTime, meanwhile, allows critical information to be passed securely and accurately between G&J and its trading partners for a fixed annual fee.
The service is delivered through a secure Internet connection, removing the need for in-house hardware and software. Connections to new trading partners can be set up within days compared to weeks, as with G&J's previous system – and with all important transmissions fully traceable.
