Industrial and centrifugal fans manufacturer Halifax Fans has replaced NetSuite CRM and bespoke systems with SAP Business ByDesign, in a move to support business growth and enable the organisation to enter new markets.
Ian McEvoy, who owns the Yorkshire based organisation, explains that only 40% of employees are based in the UK head office, with the rest split across nine locations.
"We had several bespoke systems in place and CRM from NetSuite, which, although they worked fine individually, really put a strain on the business from the perspective of being able to have one single view of data," states McEvoy.
"In order for the business to be able to maintain its growth and continue to be successful, it was obvious that we would need to implement a fully integrated solution," he adds.
McEvoy says he didn't want to hire a big IT team, and hence the selection of a cloud-based offering, with NetSuite, Priority, Opera and Access SC all in the frame.
"We needed full conventional manufacturing and full bespoke project capability, as well as a solid Chinese accounting and HR system," says McEvoy.
SAP, he says, represented a future-proof investment, and was selected because it was "the only fully integrated solution that fit with all of our requirements without the need for bolt-on technology".
SAP Business ByDesign is currently being implemented in the UK and China. The UK team has already gone live and China is due to go-live on the 31 December.
