The latest version of Infor's SCM demand planning system will help demand planners to handle variability, while increasing productivity and improving manufacturers' ability to make money,
So says developer Infor for its new supply chain management software, which is aimed at enabling visibility into demand – by increasing forecasting accuracy, so feeding more information into the demand planning process.
Alan Lindsay, senior product manager for supply chain management at Infor, says that the net result is reduced inventory and hence the productivity and revenue promises.
"As the economy and global demand improves, tectonic changes are occurring in supply chain management that are moving supply chain planning to a top line revenue driver," says Lindsay.
"Supply chain officers and demand planners focusing on both planning and execution will be best equipped to adapt to the variability in today's supply chain and seize growth opportunities," he adds.
In brief detail, some of the improvement comes from the fact that new features help planners to bring sales and marketing better into the forecasting process, as well as suppliers into the ordering process, together leading to more accurate and predictable demand and supply plans.
On top of that, statistical capabilities, working on the internal and external data are claimed to bring more accuracy to demand plans via "a single, global view of the truth".
