Prosthetics and orthotics manufacturer Blatchford has successfully upgraded from Infor ERP SyteLine v6.0 to v8.0,, deploying the system to more than 100 users across its UK and US operations.
Blatchford's IT manager Donovan Naidoo says the solution is helping to boost growth by improving supply chain visibility and saving time in key manufacturing operations, while also improving its clinicians' customer service in the field.
He cites benefits as ranging from improved ease of use to faster billing and better customer service. "Most importantly for our IT department, SyteLine 8.0 supports Microsoft SQL Server. This means we are able to exploit a wider pool of talent for the ongoing support of the software and are much better positioned for the future," he says.
Naidoo explains that, for example, when changes to an order for an orthotic device are needed, SyteLine now updates the specification of materials and then alerts Blatchford and the customer to any change in delivery times and final cost.
Meanwhile, one of the main benefits to Blatchford's manufacturing operation is greater visibility of WIP, along with improved accuracy in invoicing and billing.
And he says that SyteLine has reduced the resources and time needed for stock taking. Next up, Blatchford plans to integrate barcoding capabilities with SyteLine, beginning with shop floor data capture and eventually encompassing inventory control and barcodes on devices despatched to customers.
