Global manufacturer Kyocera Fine Ceramics has updated and extended its Infor ERP environment, implementing the latest M3 system to replace an obsolete version of Movex across all its European sites.
Dr Harald Schuster, who looks after business IT at Kyocera Europe, says that, from April of this year, M3 will support order management at its offices in Esslingen, Neuss, London and Paris.
The result, he says, will be improved productivity, resulting from faster access to sales orders, automation of recurring orders and removal of manual data input – following integration with Microsoft Office.
Schuster explains that product development, production and distribution will continue in Japan, while the European operations process sales orders, transmitting order information to the Japanese production site, taking into both production capacity and estimated delivery dates.
M3 and its integration with Microsoft Office, he says, will solve complexity issues and automate manual processes.
"With the upgrade to the latest version of Infor M3 currently being executed, Kyocera has an ERP solution that simplifies and accelerates our daily operations," explains Schuster.
"The software not only supports order management; Infor M3 delivers a modern user interface, powerful search capabilities, and close integration with Microsoft Office. We expect that a significant productivity boost ... is possible."
In operation, Infor's intelligent Workspace user interface will transfer data from multiple sources into dashboards, while SmartOffice will extract and insert data into Office applications and M3.
Meanwhile, Infor's Enterprise Search should enable Kyocera users to search all digital content, such as orders, and product and customer information. Schuster says Kyocera also plans to digitise, archive and deploy business documents on Enterprise Search, using Infor's Archive Foundation.
