Business Minister Norman Lamb (pictured) will visit an SME manufacturing firm next week to carry out a 'work experience' placement. The MP for North Norfolk will visit Hoveton firm Broadland Products – a steel fabrication business – on Thursday.
Managing director Peter Rathbone said: "I really want to talk to Norman about the cost of employment and the barriers to doing business it poses for small firms. Then there's the general cost of everything else in relation to running a business and how much the Government takes out of every pound we earn. Quite frankly there's a lot to discuss."
Ahead of next week's visit – which is part of the Forum of Private Business's 'Business Buddy' scheme, a project which puts politicians in touch with local firms, the Minister said it was important for MPs and Ministers to talk to people actually running businesses and he was looking forward to spending the morning with Broadland Products to learn about their day-to-day experiences.
