Fibre optic protection, management and installation systems manufacturer Miniflex has selected QAD's on demand ERP software to take it from start-up to full production.
Based in Suffolk and founded in 1994, the firm has catapulted to the forefront of fibre technology, and COO Tom Carpenter says it needed a system capable of supporting growth across multiple locations, including two manufacturing sites.
He explains that although management views the business as a research-based start-up, it runs a complex manufacturing business with a global customer base, and is now poised for full production.
Hence the need for a flexible and sophisticated ERP solution that would not tax its current budget and resources, he says.
"We have three key goals – growth, profitability and customer satisfaction," comments Carpenter.
"The next two to three years will be critical for us [so] it's vital that we focus our resources on our key goals and minimise any effort or expenditure that may distract us from them," he adds.
QAD On Demand is a software as a service (SaaS) system that will, believes Carpenter, provide Miniflex with all of the QAD Enterprise Applications functionality it needs, while reducing its total cost of ownership and allowing IT staff to focus resources elsewhere.
Specifically, the SaaS solution mitigates many of the IT and financial risks associated with any new ERP implementation, as all of the software, systems and infrastructure are managed and administered by QAD in a secure, reliable and industry compliant data centre.
"That's why we decided early in the project that QAD On Demand was the correct ERP solution for us." States Carpenter. "QAD's On Demand solution most closely meets our needs, giving great functionality, superior data analysis and business control, out-of-the-box – at a competitive price."
