Prisk vows fairer taxes and reduced red tape under manufacturing strategy

Business minister Mark Prisk has vowed to deliver fairer taxes and cut the administrative burden on UK manufacturers as part of the government's Manufacturing Strategy.

Speaking exclusively to WM, Prisk promised a raft of measures to help liberate manufacturing. He said: "We want to achieve free enterprise by reforming the tax system and reducing regulatory burden. We'll be encouraging innovation and making sure the infrastructure is in place to establish hubs of growth." Prisk also pledged a shake up to government procurement. Ministers will look to deliver "innovation and competitiveness" in the process, Prisk claimed. Overall the manufacturing strategy was determined to foster continued growth in the manufacturing sector, Prisk stressed. He told WM: "Our ambition is to grow manufacturing and to ensure the UK becomes the leading exporter of high tech products." The manufacturing strategy is due to be published this November.
