Production control software set to transform military precision engineers

Nottingham-based precision engineering firm PS Marsden, which serves the military weapons, says it expects its new manufacturing execution system to transform efficiency and flexibility.

General manager Simon Marsden says the Redant production control system, from GB Efficiency Services, will initially focus on controlling stock, purchasing, quotes and jobs. Marsden says the integrated touch screen data collection and time and attendance system will enable the existing TAR system to be retired. He also says that its MES facilities and access to system data will help shopfloor personnel to ensure timely and accurate data recording and job progress feedback. He cites, for example, the system's numerous threads of quality control functionality, including contract review, concessions, non conformance procedures and reporting, equipment calibration, inspection procedures and lot traceability. "These functions will help PS Marsden to maintain [our] high levels of quality and accreditations," says Marsden.
