Storage equipment supplier Rapid Racking has signed a deal with Nightfreight to outsource all deliveries from its Cirencester facility to customers throughout the UK. The pallet racking and container supplier was operating its own fleet and using Nightfreight for period of high demand, but now Rapid Racking has decided to hand responsibility for all deliveries to the logistics firm.
Phil Davies, customer fulfilment manager at Rapid Racking, said that Nightfreight had provided an exceptional service for the last six years and that this latest move will improve speed and efficiency. "By outsourcing all our outbound deliveries, we will be able to take advantage of Nightfreight's full range of multi-delivery channels to ensure we're delivering a first class service to our UK commercial and retail customers.
"Nightfreight provides our business with complete flexibility being able to adapt to changes within our business and we see this relationship being strengthened over the next three and half years."
Nightfreight will operate five dedicated vehicles from its Risley, Southall, Willenhall and Pucklechurch sites, supported by its shared use network of 53 depots. Wireless hand-held technology will be employed to manage the delivery of over 9,000 consignments per year.
Ian Smith, Nightfreight's CEO, said: "Our six-year relationship has seen us offering variable charging methods on a 'pay as you go' basis and flexible delivery solutions to accommodate high volume seasonal periods.
"As their third party logistics provider, Rapid Racking can capitalise on the much greater benefits of our shared network, which is designed to deliver a first class customer experience."
