Sanlorenzo super yacht production gets ERP visual controls

Sanlorenzo, the Italian super-yacht manufacturer, says that its Infor ERP Visual implementation, which went live in January, is bringing the complexity of its highly customised products under control.
Ermanno Porro, Sanlorenzo general manager, explains that the specialist yacht builder's move into 28—35m plastic and fibreglass yachts, 40m aluminium super-yachts and 44m steel mega-yachts meant it required sophisticated resource planning.
It also needed to improve monitoring of production steps on the shopfloor, and all the way from order to delivery. And the system had to support a programme to optimise and manage custom options in an engineer-to-order environment.
He says Sanlorenzo chose ERP Visual for its ability to manage complex manufacturing environments, as well as to streamline order management and workflow. The company also needed an ability to transfer two-way data with Microsoft Project, its preferred live management system.
"Our business is centred on producing highly prestigious yachts that are tailored to the precise requirements of our customers. ERP Visual will help us improve our order management process," says Porro. "We liked Infor because it enables us to extend our ERP solution with other modules and strategic solutions to support future business growth."
Praxis Calcolo, the Milan-based Infor ERP Visual partner, implemented the sytem.
