Automated IT job scheduling, reporting and management software developer Redwood Software, whose flagship product is Cronacle, has secured what’s believed to be only the sixth global reseller agreement with ERP giant SAP.
SAP has been using and selling Redwood technology since 2003, but will now resell Redwood solutions under the brand ‘SAP Central Job Scheduling by Redwood’, enabling centralised management of whole IT infrastructures, both SAP and non-SAP.
It means that SAP customers with other ERP systems and the inevitable raft of other applications running on virtually any platform – from mainframes to PCs running Windows environments – can be provided with IT job scheduling, reporting and management facilities through SAP.
SAP and Redwood say that together they will deliver increased productivity and reduced management costs for SAP users with the inevitable mixed portfolio of IT. Users will be able to simplify the operations of their overall IT infrastructure, including, resulting in consolidation and thus reduced costs.
Existing users wax lyrical: “We are already realising significant benefits from the broad functionality of Cronacle,” says Pim Verboon, senior manager ICT Infrastructure EMEA, Epson Europe. “With this partnership, we can maximise the return on our existing IT investments and meet our strategic goals.”
SAP Central Job Scheduling by Redwood is a ‘Powered by SAP NetWeaver’ solution, and augments SAP ERP job scheduling (jointly developed with Redwood anyway) which is provided as a standard component of NetWeaver.
Says Hans-Juergen Uhink, SAP senior vice president of business development: “Today, there is a high demand for the Redwood solution, and we’re very glad to extend our partnership with Redwood so that we can now offer the job scheduling and process automation solution to our customers.”
“The extension of the existing OEM agreement means that SAP users can source a comprehensive solution for management, integration and mediation of SAP and non-SAP application workload,” adds Anjo de Heus, senior vice president of business development at Redwood.
“Throughout last year, we gained a lot of new customers through SAP,” he says “But they were saying ‘it’s nice to have system to manage SAP workload but we have a full infrastructure including non-SAP to maintain’. So with the new reseller agreement, SAP will be able to provide software to manage whole customer infrastructures.”
