Bearings from Schaeffler Group, the Sutton Coldfield based manufacturer, will support the retractable roof of the Kiev stadium hosting the final of Euro 2012.
Schaeffler Group, will supply 240 spherical plain bearings as part of the modernisation of the City's Olympic stadium ahead of the football tournament.
The stadium roof will be spanned with ropes whose coupling points comprise load free bearing supports, Schaeffler Group said.
The bearings will be lined with Schaeffler's Elgoglide sliding layer- a low friction chemically resistant material that can support high loads and small swivel angles.
Eighty radial spherical plain bearings will support the base plates of the roof of the 83,000 capacity stadium.
Another 160 radial spherical bearings will support the loads form the roof structure, Schaeffler Group added.
