Scottish whisky distillery Bruichladdich recently celebrated the production of its first 10 year-old single malt whisky since re-opening in 2001, with a little help from Solarsoft's Tropos ERP.
The Atlantic Isle of Islay production plant specialises in artisanal single malt whisky, and its first Bruichladdich Laddie Ten bottles is, I part, due to moving off manual spreadsheets to Tropos for optimising production activities and efficiency.
Simon Coughlin, operations director at Bruichladdich, says that Bruichladdich chose Solarsoft's Tropos ERP system, because of its Whisky Workbench module, which control cask stocks and blending. The system, he says, now allows the distillery to record, track and manage all orders, stock levels, production planning, bottling/packing and despatch on an end-to-end basis.
"Tropos is a live system, with accurate, up-to-date, integrated data from right across the business, including bulk, production, bottling and despatch," comments Coughlin.
"Tropos links everything together seamlessly, even integrating with our i2i export document management system – another solution that Solarsoft recommended – which takes care of export paperwork," he adds.
And Coughlin also refers to the traceability afforded by the system, which tracks Islay from its organically grown barley roots to the finished bottle.
Bruichladdich is currently moving to the latest version Tropos 4 and deploying Tropos Mobile into its new warehousing facility this autumn, so further streamlining business processes, he says.
