Truck coupling devices manufacturer Fontaine International Europe says that replacing its ageing MRP software with integrated ERP is eliminating manual order processing and improving responsiveness and lean operations across the business.
Fontaine, part of the $6.3bn Marmon Group, is the world’s second largest producer of fifth wheel coupling devices that connects a HGV truck to trailers. More than 50% of Fontaine’s European customers are OEM truck manufacturers and the company had been under pressure to move order processing for its OEMs onto EDI.
The company went for a Syspro 6.0 ERP system from McGuffie Brunton, taking its integrated manufacturing, distribution, financial and EDI systems, and can already handle electronic receipt of sales orders right through to the despatch of goods and invoicing. The system will go fully live in October,
Fontaine finance director Mark Lloyd, who is project managing the implementation. says: “The implementation of Syspro, while providing Fontaine with the EDI functionality and efficiencies demanded by our OEM customers, significantly improves the visibility of our performance.
“Through its Event Management, the system also provides an improvement in workflow communication and response times, automatically triggering actions, or notification of critical events that need attention.”
Syspro Event Management automatically reacts to situations as they happen, for example, informing designated relevant people. The system can trigger emails, run other parts of the ERP application, or write to log files for later review.
