Recycling, renewable energy and waste management specialist Viridor says its cloud-based project management solution has been successfully delivered by m-hance.
The system is now managing projects worth more than £1 billion – including the development of energy from waste plants, which generate electricity and usable heat in the form of steam or hot water for local industries, while treating non-recyclable residual wastes.
Viridor currently manages over 40 sites and is one of the UK's most progressive recycling and resource management businesses.
According to Patrick Daws, regional technical manager at Viridor, the new software is designed to embed rigorous workflows into its project processes, and to speed up the company's previously lengthy, paper-based approach for project sign-offs.
Viridor, he says, wanted a cost effective solution from a proven supplier to deliver a resilient and scalable platform to streamline its project management processes.
The m-hance Software-as-a-Service solution, which includes CRM and Sharepoint technology, provides Viridor with a stage-gate sign-off mechanism as well as document approval functionality.
Daws also explains that the solution will also be deployed by Viridor's IT operation for internal modernisation projects as well as for roll out in the wider business for all project control requirements.
"We have set ourselves ambitious objectives in the recycling and recovery sector, so it's important that we invest in state-of-the-art treatment and processing technology to ensure we retain our leadership in the recycling and reuse of waste," explains Daws.
"It's therefore essential that we take every step to optimise the delivery of our major engineering projects," he continues. "m-hance was ideally placed to provide the expertise we needed to create a fully-integrated project management system."
Daws says that m-hance's cloud capability also convinced the company to deploy the solution on a software-as-a-service basis.
m-hance's cloud-based CRM and SharePoint deployment will feature templated Viridor project sites in SharePoint, with structured sign-off stages, authorised approvers and full document approval.
The creation of milestones that trigger SharePoint document-approval workflows, using e-mail templates, will ensure that approvals are logged within CRM and continually updated within SharePoint project sites, so improving productivity and ensuring greater financial control.
